When creating branded content on TikTok, it's crucial to follow licensing rules to avoid any copyright issues. This is especially important because branded content has different rules from organic posts. All music used in branded content must be either royalty-free or owned by the brand, or sourced from TikTok’s Commercial Music Library.
Below are the steps to ensure that you're using the right music and adhering to the licensing guidelines.
How to Access TikTok’s Commercial Music Library
There are two ways to access music from TikTok’s Commercial Music Library—via the TikTok app or through the online library.
Option 1: Through the TikTok App

Go to the Shooting Page
- Tap the plus sign (+) at the bottom of the screen to start creating content.

Select the Sound Button
- Once on the shooting page, click on the Sound button located at the top center of the screen.

Browse the Commercial Music Library
- When you land on the "Add A Sound" page, the header will show that you are in the Commercial Music Library.
- From here, you can browse and select any track available in the library.

Secure the Song
- Once you’ve selected your desired song, take a screenshot of the track and send it in the Vamp chat for approval.
Helpful Tip: This ensures the music is pre-approved before you use it in your campaign.
Option 2: Through the TikTok Commercial Music Library Website

Go to the Commercial Music Library Website
- Navigate to TikTok’s Commercial Music Libraryonline library.

Select Your Market
- Choose the market (country or region) where your campaign will run. This will filter the available music tracks for that specific region (e.g., Australia, UK, USA, etc.).

Browse and Listen
- Explore various tracks by filtering by keyword, genre, theme, mood, or duration.

Secure the Song
- Once you’ve found the track you want to use, take a screenshot and send it to Vamp for approval via the chat.

Important Notes:

If the music is brand-owned:
- Simply type the name of the song in the Sounds button in the TikTok app, and it will appear for you to select.

If the music is from a Hashtag Challenge:
- Type in the hashtag related to the challenge in the TikTok app and click ‘Join the Hashtag Challenge’ at the bottom of the page.
- Ensure that your TikTok account is set to Personal/Creator mode to join and hear the music.
By following these guidelines and using the right music from the Commercial Music Library, you'll avoid copyright issues and stay compliant with TikTok's branded content rules.
